as far as i could concern, “to be a man” not only means to show high moral standards, but to get well known about ourselves, yet we could hardly reach this standards by now because of the age or the lack of experience of living; however, things we can do would be more than just wandering around.
one who knows his own strength and that of the enemy is invincible in battle; all i want to say is that this is me is not just making a self-introducing or emphasizing, the speech i made is not talking about my personality or inner-quality, it is a slogan or an aphorism, which always warning us that: get to know ourselves and to be a man.

as we all know，the next expo will be held in shanghai in 21. we will have thousands of visitors here in our hometown，then how should we show our manners? of course，all of us prefer to show our good manners，so we should pay attention to our daily customs，china is a traditional country with a long history. the young should show our chinese culture and good manners to the world .i t is easy to say than to do，most of us didn’t pay enough attention to “seven don’ts” sometimes they throw rubbish everywhere，cross the road when the light is red .although they know these behavirous are not good，they still do it .i hope everyone of us can take part in this social practice .we should carry ourselves well，respect our teachers and so on，try to show our best manners to the world .
i think，we should follow the next three points in our daily life :

my topic is honesty.
as a correspondent of the qingdao morning news, i visited dr. james gilman, the president of the international committee for marco polo studies in england. in this picture, this is james, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’s tooth. this is a true story.
65 years ago, james lived in qingdao. then he was only 5 years old. he often visited the aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. he was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.
he kept the tooth for the net 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. it was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. finally he decided to put right his childish error. in 20, he visited qingdao and returned it to the aquarium with his sincere apologies. he received a warm welcome.
when james visited qingdao, i accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. i was deeply touched by his honesty. it has taught me a lot. i think to err is human. the important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error.
honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. so we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. i would like to say to all of my friends: let’s be honest people of good moral character.

in my opinion,we shouldn't only pay attention to beautiful appearance and neglect the beautification of the mind and what we are after should be the perfect unity of the outward beauty and the inner beauty. as we all know,so far as objects and animals are concerned,there is only beautiful appearance to be mentioned, but to us humanbeings, although the outward beauty really matters, the inner beauty is much more important. this was confirmed by a famous russian writer in words much like this: "a person is not lovely for being beautiful but beautiful for being lovely. "
here, i'd like to quote two typical instances and i'm sure, my dear friends,from them you'll find out what real beauty is.
recently i learned from the radio an unpleasant incident about a well known singer. she is very charming with a sweet beautiful voice and very famous for singing the song."devotion of love". not long ago,she was invited to zhejiang province to give performance. the moment she was to appear on the stage,she suddenly asked for more reward. worse still,after her request was satisfied, she didn't begin to sing at once. instead,she took her time to count all the money piece by piece. thus she kept the audience waiting for half an hour. so when she at last showed up and started to sing "devotion of love",a man rose up from his seat and shouted at her,"you don't have any devotion of love. you are not qualified to sing this song ! "hearing this, the singer stopped singing and began to shout abuses with her finger pointed at the man. at this time the whole audience burst into an uproar.
how disappointed her keen listeners were when they learned this! it is the singer herself who spoiled her beautiful image in the eyes of others.
now, i'm coming to another true story. it's about a poor, ordinary looking old woman. she was a widow without any children, living barely from hand to mouth by picking odds and ends from rubbish heaps. however,she took in more than ten homeless orphans successively and managed to bring them up. every day she labored from morning till night. in order to earn as much money as possible to raise the children and to keep them in school,she even went to a hospital regularly to sell her blood. she got so weak for the loss of blood that she sometimes fell in a faint on her way home.
when asked why she chose to burden herself with so many children,she smiled and simply answered,"oh,i love children and i like to have their company. "
though the old woman was poor materially, she was full of affection and rich in spirit. she was loved dearly by her children. she was also highly appreciated by the local government, and truly respected by people in her community.
maybe you can't help wondering, "what makes that ordinary woman so e_traordinary?" it is nothing else but her inner beauty, her true devotion of love without any thought of rewarding. what a sharp contrast there is between the great woman and the selfish singer]
so,to answer the question "what is real beauty?", i declare definitely,it is the beauty lying in one's heart of hearts and embodied in his actions and deeds,that is,the inner heauty!

frankly speaking, i donsquo;t quite agree with them.indeed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions. (examples).but why cansquo;t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.
there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. on the one hand, some of the western holidays which we chinese donsquo;t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as fathersquo;s day and april foolsquo;s day etc. on the other hand,the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china. overwhelmed by such a trend,chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.
with the further development of the whole world, the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. we are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the earth.the only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? the answer is definitely no. what we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us.
